A Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Overview

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a story about a 15-year-old boy named Christopher Boone, who discovers a neighbor’s dog, Wellington, has been killed. Christopher, who has a unique way of seeing the world due to his condition (implied to be on the autism spectrum), decides to solve the mystery of who killed the dog, much like the detectives he admires in his favorite books.

As Christopher investigates, he uncovers unexpected secrets about his family, particularly about his parents. His quest to find out the truth leads him on a brave journey away from home, where he faces challenges and overcomes his fear of new experiences.

Throughout the story, several themes are explored, including:

  • Family: The story delves into the complexities of Christopher’s relationship with his parents, including their struggles to support and understand him.
  • Honesty and Trust: As Christopher uncovers lies and hidden truths, the importance of honesty and trust becomes central to the story.
  • Braving the Unknown: Christopher steps outside of his comfort zone, showing bravery as he navigates unfamiliar situations and environments to solve the mystery and find his own path.
