Paris - Montmartre - Grape Harvest Festival
Paris's Wine Harvest Festival began on Wednesday to celebrate the grape harvest at the city's famous vineyard in the district of Montmartre. The festival will continue until Sunday involving a range of events to highlight the winemaking culture and the community of Montmartre. This year, the theme is peace.
On the second weekend of October every year, one of my favourite Paris neighborhoods, Montmartre, throws a street party that involves wine, cheese, fresh oysters, garlicky snails, and general merrymaking. The Fête des Vendanges celebrates the grape harvest of Paris's secret vineyard, the Vignes du Clos Montmartre.
Every year locals celebrate the harvesting of the grapes with special activities such as tastings of artisanal and regional foods, dances, walks, exhibitions among others.
When you think of France’s wine-growing regions, Paris doesn’t immediately spring to mind. How delightful to discover the pretty working vineyard, on top of Montmartre hill, in the shadow of Sacré-Cœur. In October there’s a chance to celebrate at the annual “Fête des Vendanges” grape harvest festival.
