Russia : Why Revolution

Russia : why revolution? by Michael Bucklow
Russia, in 1917 - a land of turbulence and intrigue, a country where serfs were traditionally owned and treated like cattle; where after the Revolution, famine in the Ukraine forced desperate peasants to eat clay in order to survive...
Russia : Why Revolution? utilizes an exciting approach to history's teaching in which students apply the methods of the trained historian to reach an understanding of one of the most vital periods in modern world history - the Russian Revolution.
The authors, both practicing teachers, have taken the Russian revolutionary experience as a case study for an understanding of the process of revolution. Carefully chosen documents (some published for the first time) are linked in logical structure which incorporates helpful explanations, guides, reading lists, and activities. Numerous contemporary illustrations make Russia: Why Revolution? a textbook which senior students will find a refreshing change.
This is history in the words of those who made it: Lenin and Stalin, Rasputin, Nicholas II - key figures of the times who come alive through their own diaries and memoirs.
